Show: The Jimmy Lalla Gospel Show
Time: Monday-Friday 3:00-4:00pm
Host: Jimmy Lalla
In 2006, I suffered a massive stroke, which left me paralyzed on my right side. I could not walk, talk or remember properly. During my recovery, gospel songs started to come into my mind and rather than waiting to recover fully from my stroke, I started to record the album in faith believing that God would help me to overcome the many obstacles that lay ahead. Then, in 2008 with two songs left to record on my first album, I suffered a major heart attack and I found myself fighting for my life. While recovering from this event, God confirmed his plan and purpose for the next chapter of my life. My health progressed, He restored me, and my music ministry began!
My first album I Follow the Cross was released in 2008. GMA Canada gave it two Covenant Award nominations for Best Traditional Song of the Year and Album of the Year. I won the 2008 GMA Canada Fan Choice Award. This win led to the album being inducted into the National Archives Library of Canada. By the end of 2008, I was acknowledged as a Caribbean gospel singer, songwriter, international gospel recording artist, and producer.
In 2012, my second album Blazin’ For Jesus, received two GMA Canada nominations for Best Calypso/Reggae Song of the Year and Best Traditional Song of the Year. International awards include the 2010 En-Sound Music Award Artist of the Year and Song of the Year (U.S.A), the 2009 Word Time Ministries of Jamaica Humanitarian Award and the 2011 of Word Time Ministries of Jamaica Excellence in Gospel Music Award, and the 2010 Joy FM 90.1 of St. Lucia Voted Artist of the Year Award. Nominations include the 2010 Marlin’s Best Calypso Award, Best Traditional Song and Best Medley (Bahamas), the 2014 Marlin’s Best Calypso Award and Best Male Artist of the Year Award (Bahamas), and many more.
Ministries include Barbados Gospel Fest, The Marlin’s Awards Bahamas, Jamaica, Trinidad, U.S.A, and Canada. I have also shared the stage with Israel Haughton, Helen Baylor, Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, Judith Gayle, Papa San and other artists. In 2015, I continue to sing and dance with the joy and strength of the Lord. I am humbled that God continues to work though me to spread His message of love to believers and nonbelievers.
God took my trials and tribulations and turned it into something beautiful and today I give Him thanks!
